About the Apprenticeship :

Our company has had a tradition of training people up. The Chairman himself started working in the mailroom to learn the skills needed to excel at this job, or any other job.

As we will be working with expanded office hours, part of the job will be to assist with the reception staff and deal with the public either by phone or by greeting them as they come to the office for a meeting. Most of their time will be spent working on specific projects such as reviewing and circulating daily television ratings, scanning contracts and correspondence for digital storage, process and disseminate materials to members of fan clubs of our shows and represented talent, do research on the computer for various programs we have in development.

It is expected that supervision will be required at first, but as time goes on and they become more comfortable and confident, the applicant will be self-sufficient and be able to do more with less supervision.

We are prepared to alter the job to include more of is of interest to the applicant if possible.  We are a collaborative industry and need the applicant to be able to work with others, sometimes following, but also able to lead when comfortable.

Lastly, we anticipate having the applicant participate in some internal and external meetings to provide a broad view of our specific industry and business in general. At the end of the six months, our hope Is that the applicant would have the skills and comfort to work in any business office environment.

The role may lead to a full-time job. However, this is subject to agreement between the employer and the participant.

Employer description:

We are a family-owned entertainment company involved in TV programme production and distribution (MY FAMILY and AS TIME GOES BY are 2 of our shows, theatre ownership (The Shaftesbury Theatre), and Talent Management (Blue Book Artist Management, Andrew Roach Talent, and 3 other agencies). On the TV side we have 6 employees and on the agency side we have 8 located at our Bedford Square office.

Skills required:

The greatest quality we require is someone is eager to learn and grow. They should be happy with being supervised until they are comfortable with the task and then feel comfortable with less supervision once they have learned that process.

Personal Qualities:

We want someone who will ask questions and care that they do a good job. Attention to detail is important and we would prefer a job to take longer to do and be done right rather than quickly and wrong.

About the training:

Employability support will be provided by DiVA You will attend seven workshops over the course of your placement. They will happen on the last Wednesday of the month. They will be held virtually.

  • Induction on the programme: (includes time management, organisational skills, managing your manager and effective communication)
  • Introduction to the Creative Industries
  • Personal Branding: How to build and manage your personal brand at work and online
  • How to build and Network effectively
  • Money Management: how to establish a side hustle and work as a freelancer
  • Prove Your Passion on Paper: CV writing
  • Prove Your Passion in Person: Interview skills

Workshops last three hours and contain a mix of taught session and masterclasses with industry guests.
